If you couldn't tell by today's comic, I'm extremely happy with the election results. It may surpirse some of you, but I'm actually quite passionate about politics, and I truly believe Barack Obama to be the best man for if not saving this country, at least making it suck less. If you care, join me in the forums for in depth discussion on the topic, or just post random comments here.

What is that in my hand, John? I've spent the past five minutes trying to figure that out.

Awesome. I knew you'd do that.

Oh and I love John in this. That casual wear intro is hilarious.

Jacqi-that is supposed to be a bottle of wine that has burst from the bottle. That little dark spot in the wine is the cork.

Clarky Poo-I was trying to match all those celebs in that "don't vote" video. I even added letterboxes for added cinematic effect.

Also, Dave is being lifted by a single balloon, yes tim is hanging from the ceiling, and yes Adam is desecrating the couch with his own urine, as he is wont to do in real life.

P.S. I had an alternate ending planned for this just in case Obama lost. Maybe I'll print that one in the book.

Well, you answered my next question already, which would have been "Did you Perry White an alternate version"?

Rather then saving it for "The Book" why not just link us to the JPG. This could very well be the closest anyone will come to knowing the horrors we narrowly escaped. Think of the knowledge we could gain.

I really do like what you did with John there... It's almost like he is out of character.

You just nailed the moment. It's groovy.

I'm assuming both comments are from Clark. I didn't finish the alternate version. I had both versions drawn, but by the time I started working on this comic digitally I already knew Obama had won, so I haven't bothered to render the alternate ending...yet.

I'm glad you noticed John being out of character. I really tried to make it seem like that. Like the John he plays in the comic is a character and this is a REAL John. Even though it's the other way around.

isn't any comic book and film fan nowadays passionate about politics? doesn't surprise me.

I don't know. I don't think they all are. My friend Jimmy is a comic book and film fan, and he could give two tugs of a dead dog's cock about politics.

You have no idea the hell I went through composing that last panel...making sure everything was put in such a place that you could tell who everyone was and what they were doing. Originally Dave and Jacqi were in the opposite sides of the panel, but you couldn't make out all of Dave, and he was my favorite thing I drew in this comic so I definitely wanted that to be noticable.

In retrospect, I should have drawn John smaller, but...eh. Live and learn.

Yeah, they were both me.

I'd love to see the alternate panel, even if it's not finished. I don't want to wait for some theoretical book that would come out ages after I stopped caring.

I mean, I would have completely forgotten John Kerry even existed, had it not been for the "Don't Tase Me Bro" debacle.

And I'm glad to hear that your glad to hear that I picked up on that because you really did nail it. It's such a subtle thing but it's one of your finer points in the comic. Granted, the emotional impact of the subject matter could have something to do with that but it works, the letterbox, the clothes, the posture in both panels. I totally see the "Don't Vote" vibe you've got goin' there too.

It's really good, John.

I'd like to see this version of you return someday, as needed of course.

You mean the PSA version of John? I'm sure he'll return one day. The only way I could have made it more casual would have been to have me leaning on a wall or something.

I should have added some light bloom too to make it feel more cinematic.

Damn, hindsight's 20/20 huh? I was kind of in a hurry for this so I could get it up by today.

Nah, the plain white background works perfectly... You are giving a candid PSA, not trying to sell student loans.
